COMPASSION What is compassion? Meaning from dictionary : a strong feeling of sympathy for people who are suffering . To me compassion basically is condolence. Last year i went to an old folks home in tampines , for privacy purpose i wont tell the name of the place. I went there with my religious class. We had a briefing before that , an introduction about the place , people staying there and also a brief history about the place. Basically served them tea , biscuits and their normal food during breakfast. At the same time we listen to there life stories , most of them have very interesting background. That period of time was also the Hari Raya period so we had a karaoke session and sang Hari Raya songs together with the old folks. We continued that till about 1pm which was the time of our departure from the old folks home. During the return journey, i recalled the moments together with the old folks which i knew little about and had fun like we knew each other for a long time. I thought to myself why did their family place them there? Whatever the reason is i feel the sense of compassion towards them because at that moment i could only spent time with them , making them happy for that certain period of time nothing else.
